We offer more than 180 varieties of tomato plants, about 60 varieties of pepper plants, and 19 varieties of eggplant. We sell only open-pollinated (non-hybrid) and heirloom varieties because we care about wholesome, healthful foods, free of human tinkering. We love the sense of continuity we feel with growers of past generations, whenever we harvest heirloom produce in our own garden! We enjoy growing crops that have been saved by generations of growers because they have genuinely good characteristics that have been and continue to be of value to gardeners like us! And like so many other gardeners, we feel that heirloom varieties often taste better than the rigid faux-veggies that have been foisted upon unwary consumers for the convenience of big agri-business! So we support taking control over our diet, health, and lives....one pesticide-free heirloom plant at a time!

TOMATOES: We continue to offer a superb selection of Heirloom Tomato varieties, including quite a few that, we believe, are to be found nowhere else.

EGGPLANT: We offer a great selection of Heirloom Eggplant varieties this year. Many are available as plants nowhere else that we know of!

PEPPERS: We offer about 60 varieties of Heirloom Peppers, featuring both sweet and hot types.

SWEET POTATOES: We expect to offer more varieties of Heirloom Sweet Potato starts this year, for shipping starting in late April.

GARLIC: We will have several varieties of Heirloom Garlic available in the fall, harvest permitting. We say that every year. Maybe this year it will actually come to pass!

RARE SOLANUMS: We offer a page of unusual Solanum Family plants, some of them quite rare and all of them fascinating! Our line-up includes some very rare (non-commercially available) tomato plants, as well as little-known eggplant relatives, Nicotianas (tobaccos and ornamental tobaccos), Brugmansias, Datura, Tree Tomato, and others.

HERBS: We're really excited about our numerous new listings in the herb category, including several traditional dying herbs!

CUSTOM GROWING: Don't see that "must have" variety in our regular offerings? We're happy to do custom sowings of unlisted varieties, often at no extra charge! But you must order early enough to allow the plants to reach shipping size. More Information

OTHER PLANTS: A page of other plant offerings! Found here will be a miscellany of fascinating and useful plants that have captured our interest or affections, but that really belong in no other category on this site. Most are old garden friends, things like Jerusalem Artichoke or Comfrey. Others will be newer addenda to North American gardens: Bolivian Sunroot (Yacon) and probably others. And finally, we include a few rare old varieties of Heirloom Flowers, once common in our great-grandparents' gardens but now exceedingly rare.

JUST FOR SOUTHERN GARDENS We have retained our page just for Southern gardeners. We are currently accepting orders for early spring planting, with shipping beginning on March 1, 2010. We also offer varieties for the late-summer planting window, with ordering for these starting late June, for shipment in late August into September.

ROGUE HOES Our friends, Larry and Phyllis Pierce of Rogue Hoe Distributing, sell the nicest handmade hoes we've ever used! Indispensible in the garden! Larry also selected several of the tomato varieties we offer--he's a superb grower whose industry and skill continue to inspire us personally.

LITTLE CREEK FARM Some really nice all-vegetable soaps, handmade by our friend Sunny Gogel. Sunny has been stirring up batches of herbal soaps and sundries in her kitchens since 1993. See her website for information on these gentle fragrant soaps and other fine products, all of which grew out of, and reflect, her love of gardening.

MARY'S HOMESTEAD Their mission is to help others with homesteading and preparedness. They sell gardening and preserving supplies, books, cookbooks, DVE's and videos. They offer Mary's Homestead Handbooks, collections of their diverse skills and experiences. They believe that old-fashioned practical knowledge and skills never lose their relevance.

FRIZZLED FEATHERS Another small farm in our area. They offer rare poultry, including some heritage breeds. Their brand new site features lots of photos from their farm. They also offer some handcrafted items, created from local materials right on their Ozarks homestead.
